What Happened That Night?

Chapter 1: The Forgotten Key

Rohan lived in a small village near a forest. Every night, his grandmother told him stories about mysterious creatures, magical trees and haunted houses. Rohan loved those stories, but he never believed in ghosts.

One Saturday evening, while playing near the forest, he found a strange silver key beneath an old tree. The key had a tiny moon engraved on it.

Suddenly, a whisper came from the trees. “Bring the key… bring the key…”

Rohan looked around. Nobody was there. Curious, he followed a narrow path until he reached the abandoned house.

Chapter 2: The Door That Opened Itself

The house was covered with vines. Its windows were dark, and the wind made the old wooden gate creak. Rohan held the silver key tightly.

He placed it into a lock on the front door. CLICK! The door swung open.

Inside, dusty paintings covered the walls. An old clock ticked backwards, and a staircase led into the shadows.

Then the clock stopped. From somewhere upstairs came a tiny voice: “Is somebody there?”

Chapter 3: The Little Ghost

Rohan slowly climbed the stairs. At the end of the hallway, a small white figure floated above the floor. She had glowing blue eyes and a silver ribbon in her hair.

“Are you a ghost?” Rohan asked, trembling.

“Yes,” she answered. “My name is Lily. But I won’t hurt you. I have been waiting for someone to visit me for a very long time.”

Rohan was still scared. But when he noticed the tears shining in Lily’s eyes, he felt sorry for her.

“Why are you alone?” he asked.

Lily explained that many years ago, she had hidden her favourite music box somewhere in the house. She could not leave until she found it.

Chapter 4: The Secret Room

Together, Rohan and Lily searched every room. Behind an enormous painting, they discovered a tiny door.

The silver key fitted perfectly. Inside the secret room sat a little wooden box. Rohan opened it, and a beautiful music box began to play a gentle melody.

Lily smiled for the first time in a hundred years. The gloomy house filled with warm golden light. The shadows disappeared, and the old clock began ticking normally again.

Chapter 5: The Midnight Goodbye

“Thank you, Rohan,” Lily whispered. “You helped me find the happiest memory of my life.”

Her ghostly figure slowly turned into sparkling lights. They floated towards the ceiling and disappeared into the moonlight.

Before vanishing, Lily waved goodbye. “Remember, Rohan. Sometimes the things that frighten us are simply things we don’t understand.”

Rohan ran home just before midnight. The next morning, he returned to the forest, but the haunted house had vanished.

In its place stood a beautiful garden filled with white flowers. And hanging from the oldest tree was a tiny silver music-box charm.

Rohan smiled. He knew Lily had finally found peace. But sometimes, on quiet moonlit nights, he could still hear a little melody coming from the forest.
